What Would You Like to See Along the Waterfront at Lakewood Park?

If you could have any amenity along the waterfront at Lakewood Park, what would it be?

Lakewood City Hall would like to know.

But don’t answer “public beach” or “a pier.” City officials say those are long-term investments.

Lakewood City Council recently approved spending $25,000 on a design study for $300,000 in “lakefront improvements” at Lakewood Park — particularly the western edge of the waterfront at the park. 

There’s about $300,000 in funds available for the project, but it’s only earmarked for the lakefront property at Lakewood Park, and it’s not enough money for any large-scale improvements. 

City officials expect some elements in the proposals to include shelters, more seating and the extension of the walking/biking trails.

The city met with a consultant on Sept. 5, and design drawings are expected in the coming weeks.

“Seeing how engaged Lakewood is, we want to get some involvement (from the community),” said Lakewood city planner Jason Russell.
