Lakewood City Council recently approved spending $25,000 on a design study for $300,000 in βlakefront improvementsβ atΒ Lakewood Park β particularly the western edge of the waterfront at the park.Β
Thereβs about $300,000 in funds available for the project, but itβs onlyΒ earmarked for the lakefront property at Lakewood Park, and itβs not enough money for any large-scale improvements.Β

City officials expect some elements in the proposals to include shelters, more seating and the extension of the walking/biking trails.
The city met with a consultant on Sept. 5, and design drawings are expected in the coming weeks.
βSeeing how engaged Lakewood is, we want to get some involvement (from the community),β said Lakewood city planner Jason Russell.
