Burglaries on Ivana Court, Income Taxes & More: Mentor City Council Memo

Here are five things to know from this week's Mentor City Council memo.

Each week, Mentor City Council sends a memo to members of the media that includes a blend of events, accomplishments, police and fire reports and business openings.

Here are five items from the memo for the week of Aug. 4:

  • The Ohio Public Works Commission District 7 Integrating Committee approved funding Mentor’s two-town detention basin last week at a meeting. Mentor will receive a $349,900 grant and $150,000 loan. The basin is the only Mentor project that scored high enough for funding.
  • Representatives of the police and fire departments have been working with the Mentor school district, School Safety Planning and Fire Prevention Bureau inspectors on annual safety inspections of the schools. Classes in Mentor begin Wednesday Aug. 21.
  • The Mentor Detective Bureau is investigating two home burglaries on Ivana Ct. over the weekend.  The homes were forcibly entered and an unspecified amount of property was stolen.
  • The City of Mentor collected $368,000 more in July than the same month last year. Year-to-date collections are up by 1.61 percent.
