Frank And Pauly's Opening In Historic Sawyer House
The award-winning Italian restaurant will begin serving dinner Feb. 1

Frank and Pauly's, an award-winning Italian restaurant, has found the historic Sawyer Home in Mentor and it feels so good.
In 1993, Frank and Pauly's opened in the BP Building in downtown Cleveland. It built a reputation with its family-style portions and popular dishes. However, it closed in 2006 and then its original owner, Wayne Koury, passed away.
Meanwhile, the Sawyer Home -- a Lake County landmark that's on the National Register of Historic places -- was left without a tenant when Mark Fuerst closed his restaurants in 2008.

But Dennis Koury, Wayne's brother, saw the opportunity this presented -- a restaurant that needed a home and a unique location that needed a tenant.
"The Sawyer House had a reputation for good food and the location is beautiful," Koury said.

So Frank and Pauly's will be resurrected in the Sawyer House, 9470 Mentor Ave. And the location may have changed, but the menu, recipes and chef, Ken Hawk, are the same, Koury said.
Diners will once again enjoy Frank & Pauly’s famous salad, its spaghetti aglio olio, lasagna and more.
Koury said epicureans would call, asking for these dishes even after Frank and Pauly's closed.
"I had so many requests," he said. "The phone never stopped ringing."
Frank and Pauly's will open for dinner only on Feb. 1 and lunch and dinner on March 1.
