Hopkins Students Raising Money For Charity & 'Frosty' Reward

Principal Larry Luciano has made a cool promise to his students.

If they can raise $2,000 for the this week, he and teacher Kylie McKnight will dress as snowmen for the students Friday.

This is not the first time Luciano and McKnight have found a creative way to motivate their kids. Last year, when the students hit their fundraising goal, they dressed as clowns to entertain the students.

The school is hosting a series of spirit days to help the students meet their goal this week.

On Tuesday, the students will donate their spare change during lunch. The lunch period that gives the most will get free popcorn with lunch Thursday. Also, children are encouraged to wear red because they are "red-y" to help.

On Wednesday, kids can dress like another student on Twin Day; and Thursday is crazy hair day, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Throughout the week, students also can give 50 cents to get a snowman that they can decorate any way they want. The snowmen will then adorn the halls of the school.

Mentor Schools principals have put themselves in the crosshairs this year for United Way. Principal Stephen Heller allowed his students when they reached their fundraising goal.
