Man Accused Of Hit-Skip, Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated
Lafayette Hounshell is facing his third conviction for operating a vehicle while intoxicated

A man is accused of driving a car while intoxicated and fleeing a crash on Route 2 in Mentor Tuesday night.
At about 10 p.m., Mentor Police received a call for a hit-skip on the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Munson Road, according to the department's Facebook page.
Lafayette Hounshell, 77, of Painesville, is suspected of causing the crash.

Hounshell continued to drive toward the Heisley Road exit but then stopped for no apparent reason, which caused another car to crash into the back of his vehicle, according to police.
Fortunately, nobody was seriously hurt in either crash, police said.

Hounshell was charged with fleeing from a crash and driving a car while intoxicated and arraigned Tuesday in . He also faces traffic charges of failing to maintain an assured clear distance and stopping on the interstate.
Hounshell has been convicted of driving while drunk twice before.
Hounshell pleaded not guilty. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 5.
