Man Accused of Spitting on Mentor Officer

Police say Gerald Stokely also pushed a Great Lakes Mall security guard

Mentor Police say a drunk man pushed security guard Tuesday afternoon and spit on a police officer.

According to the department's Facebook page, officers responded to calls from Great Lakes Mall about a "belligerent" man who was causing a disturbance in the eastern portion of the mall. Before police arrived, a security guard approached 46-year-old Gerald Stokley of Painesville near Firestone. Police say he pushed the guard and began yelling obscenities.

Responding officers arrested him for disorderly conduct and assault. When he got back to the police station, he threatened to kill an officer and spit on another, according to the report.
