
The Mentor baseball team's season ended Friday evening following a regional final loss to Aurora, 2-1.
According to the Plain Dealer, the game was tied at 1 until the bottom of the seventh inning when Aurora's senior catcher Frank Sivillo ran home off a hit by sophomore Nick Ely.
Of Mentor's senior starting pitcher Danny Trimble, coach Len Taylor said: "We needed him to calm down, and he did. He pitched a whale of a game. We just needed to muster up some runs."
Aurora will play Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller in the state semifinal next week in Columbus.
Mentor finished the season 23-6.
