Mentor Firefighters Squelch Blaze At Machine Shop
The fire on Commerce Parkway caused $130,000 worth of damage

Mentor firefighters responded to a fire inside of SKF Machine & Tool, a machine shop at 7265 Commerce Parkway, at about 8 p.m. Friday night.
A driver saw smoke rising from the roof of the building and called the firefighters, according to a statement from Mentor Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading and had the scene under control within an hour of arriving, according to Mentor Fire Department. Nobody was hurt while fighting the fire.

Firefighters from Willoughby, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Concord and Kirtland helped extinguish the blaze.
The flames and smoke caused about $130,000 worth of damage to the building and its contents. Fortunately, the business had insurance.

Authorities are still investigating how the fire began. However, nobody was in the building when firefighters arrived and arson is not suspected.
In the statement, the fire department said the passerby's call made a big difference and allowed the firefighters to stop the blaze while it was still relatively small.
