Mentor Police Find Drugs, $100K During Arrest of Cleveland Man
Lee Davis told police he did not know who the drugs or money belonged to
Mentor Police arrested a Cleveland man in April following a traffic stop resulting in drugs, a loaded gun and $100,000.
According to the department's Facebook page, an officer pulled over a 2007 Cadillac Escalade traveling westbound on Route 2 around 3:30 a.m. on April 27 for unnamed traffic violations. As officers spoke to Lee Davis, Mentor Police K9 Bo alerted the police to the scent of drugs coming from the car.
Police found a loaded .40 caliber pistol in the driver’s door along with half a kilogram of heroin and three-quarters of a kilogram of cocaine. The officers also found $100,000 they believe are from drug sales.

Davis was charged with drug trafficking (with gun specifications), carrying a concealed weapon and possession of criminal tools. Davis told police he did not know who owned the drugs or money.
Davis has posted the $265,000 cash or surety bond set by Mentor Municipal Court Judge John Trebets. He is facing six charges, with cocaine trafficking — a first-degree felony — being the most serious. He faces up to 10 years alone for that charge.
