Old Typewriter In Suitcase Precipitates Bomb Scare
Authorities evacuate area for about two hours while assessing situation

An old typewriter in a suitcase precipitated a bomb scare that caused several businesses near the intersection of Mentor Avenue and Heisley Road to be evacuated Monday morning.
The suitcase was seen between and at about 10:22 a.m., police said.
Mentor Police and the Lake County Bomb Squad responded to the area and evacuated it as a safety precaution.

A bomb-sniffing dog examined the suitcase. Then it was x-rayed. Both tests showed the package was not dangerous, police said.
The suitcase had a typewriter in it. Police removed the typewriter from the area, and people were allowed to return to their buildings at about 12:30 p.m.
