Mentor Teen Accused Of Attacking Family, Police

The teen faces two counts of assaulting a police officer

A Mentor teen is accused of hitting his older brother, mom and two police officers Sunday night.

The police were called after the boy fought with his brother, Mentor Police Sgt. Michael Majernik said. The fight started when the older brother threw away something that belonged to the younger brother.

When the mom tried to break up the fight, the younger brother hit her, Majernik said.

When police arrived, the boy tried to run away through the back of the house. However, one of the officers grabbed him.

The boy -- who had been drinking -- then hit the officer in the face, Majernik said. Two policemen then scuffled with the boy until they were able to get him in handcuffs.

Neither the boy nor the police were seriously hurt in the scuffle, Majernik said.

The boy was charged with two counts of assaulting an officer, two counts of domestic violence and a counte each of resisting arrest and underage possession of alcohol.

The last charge stems from two cans of Four Loko that police found in the boy's room, Majernik said.

The case will be tried in Lake County Juvenile Court.
