'Mr. Gobbles' Continues To Evade Capture
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has shot twice at the bird; other attempts to capture it have been unsuccessful

Right now, Mentor's most famous fugitive is a turkey dubbed "Mr. Gobbles."
Up until recently, the 45-pound turkey spent most of his time around the intersection of Routes 306 and 84.
However, his practice of occasionally stopping traffic brought his presence to the attention of authorities.

In the last month or so, the Ohio Wildlife Division has unsuccessfully tried to catch the turkey.
Lake County Wildlife Officer Jason Keller previously said the division initially decided to leave the turkey alone because it mostly stayed out of the roadway.

However, the turkey began walking into traffic more frequently in the last two months, prompting Keller to declare its presence a public safety concern.
"I don't want to see anything bad happen to the turkey," he told Mentor Patch in March, "and I don't want to see someone get rear-ended after they have to slam on their brakes."
Although most attempts to curtail the turkey have centered around catching and not hurting him, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources did fire two shots intending to kill him, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien told The News-Herald.
Thus far, "Mr. Gobbles" remains at large and he seems to be migrating toward Route 84's intersection with Little Mountain Road.
The News-Herald reported that Penitentiary Glen officials have offered to host the turkey in their park if he is captured.
