Nancy Kerrigan Coming To Mentor For Olympic Day Celebration

The Olympic medalist will share the ice with guests and sign autographs during a private meet-and-greet.

MENTOR, OH — Mentor Ice Arena's Olympic Day celebration will feature a very special guest — Olympic ice skater Nancy Kerrigan.

“I am really looking forward to coming to Mentor for their Olympic Day,” Kerrigan said in a statement. “Mentor has a first-class facility and a great skating program which is a perfect combination for a fun afternoon on the ice.”

Attendees can share the ice with Kerrigan on Feb. 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. during a private skate session. There will also be intermittent performances from local figure skaters, the city said.

Registration for the event is required and space is limited to 300 attendees. Cost for the skate session is $15 per person. Skate rental is included for those who wish to take the ice.

Kerrigan will also take part in a meet-and-greet from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees can get a photo and autograph from Kerrigan during that time. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $30 per person. Space is limited to 100 attendees.

Separate registration is required for the skate session and the meet-and-greet.

Registration opens Jan. 10 for the event. Guests can register online or by calling 440-974-5730, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Kerrigan won bronze medals at the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 Winter Olympics, and silver medals at the 1992 World Championships and the 1994 Winter Olympics. She was the 1993 US National Figure Skating Champion and was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2004.
