New Service Allows Mentor Public Library Patrons To Stream Indie Films
Through IndieFlix, Mentor Public Library patrons will now have access to films from more than 2,000 festivals worldwide

Can't make it to the Austin Film Festival? Or Cannes?
Or the Festival Internacional de Cine in Guadelajara?
That's OK. Because the Mentor Public now brings the shorts, documentaries, independent and foreign films screened at those and more than 2,000 other film festivals worldwide to you.

Mentor Library cardholders can now access the IndieFlix online streaming service through their computers, Android and iOS tablets, mobile devices, Roku, and -- later this year -- PS3 and Xbox game consoles.
Lynn Hawkins, executive director of the Mentor Public Library system, said that filmmakers are enthusiastic about the product and its placement in libraries because every time a film is viewed on the service, the film’s creators receive money through the pool of annual fees paid by libraries.

IndieFlix for Libraries online movie service streams award-winning films, where users can search for films via title. They can also use a variety of filters, such as genre, intended audience or film festival, to find movies that appeal to them.
Each title also offers a text summary, along with a listing of cast, crew and awards won.
“Independent films are hampered by their limited distribution options,” Hawkins said. “This is a winning combination because it provides access for our patrons to films they normally would not have an opportunity to view.”
