The city of Mentor kicked off the holiday season with its annual lighting ceremony Friday evening at the .

The choirs from , as well as the kids at the lighting, sang Christmas carols while awaiting Santa's arrival.

Once the jolly one arrived, he made sure to get every child's Christmas wish.

After the event, the more than 100 who gathered could go to across the street for refreshments.

The holiday lighting -- an annual tradition in the city -- is organized by the Mentor Beautification Committee.
