Red Lobster Looking To Redesign Outside Of Restaurant

Planning Commission can vote on proposed changes tonight at meeting

Red Lobster wants to redesign its outside and Mentor Planning Commission will have the chance to vote on the restaurant's new plans during its meeting 7 p.m. tonight at .

Red Lobster's reimaging would include:

  • removing the existing entrance canopy and support columns
  • reconstructing the front entrance
  • installing a standing seam metal roof
  • repainting parts of the exterior building burgundy red and oxford white
  • replacing the outdoor light fixtures.

The restaurant would also add sidewalk between Reynolds Road and the parking lot, as well as resurface and stripe the lot.

If the restaurant's plan is approved, it would not need to close for construction. Instead, it would just undergo renovations while it is normally closed.

Meanwhile, has asked that they be allowed to have a headstone display in front of their business.

However, Planning Commission will probably not vote on the request tonight. Instead, it will be tabled for a later meeting so the city administration can gather more information on outside displays that have been denied or approved by the Commission before.
