Two Men Face Charges After They Were Arrested At Classic Toyota After Hours

Men accused of theft, criminal trespassing and more

A pair of Ohio men face a bevy of charges after they were arrested after hours Saturday at in Mentor.

Security spotted one of the two men -- 39-year-old Robert Benedict from Jamestown -- sneaking between the cars in the dealership's service section and going into a customer's car, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

The police were called and found Benedict, as well as his driver, 29-year-old Charlie Hagler of Jeffersonville.

Police found a slew of tools that could be put to use in Hagler's car, including dark clothing, walkie-talkies, flashlights, saw blades, extra batteries and sawzalls, which can be used to cut catalytic convertors from cars, Powers said.

Police also found a phone mount/charger that was taken from the customer's car, Powers said.

Consequently, Benedict was charged with criminal trespassing, theft, possession of criminal tools, vehicular trespassing and falsification, because he lied about his identity at first, Powers said. He is also wanted on two felony warrants -- one from Licking County, one from the adult parole authority.

Hagler was charged criminal trespassing, complicity to theft, possession of criminal tools and marijuana possession.

Powers said that both men were also suspects in other theft cases throughout the state.
