Video: Capital University MIDI Band Jams At Mentor High School
The all-digital band performed Herbie Hancock and Daft Punk favorites for the Mentor High students
The saxophone booms the bassline, the keyboard sounds like a steel drum and the drummer's cymbals aren't made of metal.
The Capital University MIDI Band -- which performed Tuesday at  -- doesn't look or sound how one would expect.
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and it's a way to link electronic instruments with synthesizers and computers to make different sounds.

In other words, the musicians on the stage are still playing music but it's not sound until the engineer has it come out of the speakers.
Because of that, the MIDI Band's sound engineer is a vital part of the band. He also happens to be a Mentor High alum.

Tim Helfrich, who graduated two years, helped organized the MIDI Band's performance at Mentor High along with Choir Director Terry Herschman.
The MIDI Band performed songs from a range of genres, including Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" and a medley of Daft Punk songs, for the students.
