Voters To Choose In County Commissioner, Treasurer Primaries

A total of eight people are running for two commissioners' seats

Twelve county positions will be on the ballot in November. However, for the primary on March 6, only three of those positions -- two commissioner seats and the treasurer -- have lead to contested races.

A total of eight people are facing off for what will ultimately be two commissioners seats and every primary in the race is contested.

Democrats Ted Andrzejewski, the Eastlake mayor, and Judy Moran, the Willowick City Council president, will face off in a primary. The victor will face the winner of Republicans Willoughby Hills City Councilman David Fiebig and North Perry Village Councilman Richard Shreve's primary.

The winner of the November race will replace Commissioner Ray Sines, who is not seeking re-election.

Meanwhile, incumbent Commissioner Robert Aufuldish will face fellow Democrat Daniel Tharp in the primary. The winner will run against the victor of the Republican primary between Madison Village Council President John Hamercheck and Leroy Township Trustee Linda Burhenne.

Also on March 6, three democrats and two republicans will vye for a spot on the ballot in November to be Lake County treasurer and replace the retiring John Crocker.

The democrats are Mentor-on-the-Lake Mayor John Rogers, State Rep. Lorraine Fende and Perry Township Fiscal Officer Christine Page. The republicans are Riverside Board of Education Member Belinda Grassi and attorney Bob Patterson.

The following people are running unopposed in the primary:

  • Republican incumbent Charles Coulson and Democrat Werner Barthol for Lake County prosecuting attorney
  • Democrat incumbent Maureen Kelly and Republican Emilee Teresczuk for clerk of common pleas courts
  • Republican Jason Wuliger and Democrat Ann Radcliffe for county recorder.

The following people are running unopposed in the primary and in November:

  • Court of Common Pleas Judges Richard Collins Jr., Vincent Culotta and Eugene Lucci
  • Sheriff Daniel Dunlap
  • County Engineer James Gills
  • Coroner Lynn Smith.
