Year In Review: Biggest Change In Mentor This Year
Two of Mentor City Council's longest tenured councilman were voted out in a shakeup that will reverberate for the next several years

Five of Mentor City Council's seven seats were , so the potential for a shakeup was always there.
But nobody predicted how much shaking there would be.
Ward 3 Councilman Ed Walsh and Ward 4 Councilman Ronald Micchia -- two of the city's longest tenured legislators with more than 50 years of experience between them -- , respectively.

However, it's unlikely that the city has seen or heard the last of either of these two men.
On election night, Micchia said he would still be around should Mentor need him.

"I'm very proud of my years of service and will still be there to help any way that I can," he said.
And Walsh, with 34 years of City Council, will not be forgotten any time soon -- .
"I’m lost for words. I just want to thank everyone in this community," Walsh said during his final council meeting. "For 34 years, they taught me how to be a good neighbor. And I’ve always said that I’d rather be a good neighbor than a good politician. And I’m going to end with that. Thank you and God bless everyone one of you."
