This October we are encouraging Teens and Adults to write a ghost story for the chance to win a prize: one lucky teen gets a Zepp’s gift card and the Adult winner gets a gift card for Books-A-Million. We’re pretty flexible on the definition of story, but a standard length for a short story is between 1,000-10,000 words, although a little more or less is OK. Honestly, I’m even happy to give folks as much creative license as they need on what qualifies as a ghost! Really, it’s just a chance for all of you to participate in our Explore Writing theme by creating something fun.

Adults and Teens can start dropping off their stories at the Reference Desk this Friday, October 1. We will have a little form to fill out so we know if you’re an Adult or a Teen and a way to contact you in case you win. That info should also be included if you decide you’d rather email your entry to us at reference@northcantonlibrary.org. All stories need to be submitted by 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.
Happy writing!

PS Do you need some help writing a story? Next Wednesday, October 6, I will be at the North Canton Farmers Market from 3-6 p.m. handing out creative writing kits. Stop by to get one!
