Third Tenant in New Washington Square Building Announced

McKinley Development announced the third tenant to occupy a space in the new Washington Square building with B.A.M. Healthy Cuisine and the Winking Lizard.

The third tenant in the new Washington Square building didn't have to travel far to get to its new home.

In fact, the new tenant is just a stone's throw away from its current location.

Verizon Wireless will move in this year, leaving an empty space where it now resides in the Washington Square plaza.

Beth Borda, spokeswoman for McKinley Development, said the move will help make the cellphone provider more visible to customers.

"The buildings that are closer to the road are typically filled with tenants (whose customers) a lot of the times aren't necessarily planning on going to the cellular store, but they see it there," she said. "They just believe that, because of the increased exposure, that's where they want to be."

According to the company's online store locator, Verizon Wireless has six locations with a North Canton addresses.

Verizon Wireless will join the Winking Lizard and B.A.M. Healthy Cuisine as tenants in the building. The Winking Lizard is a new location, while B.A.M. is moving from its location on North Main Street.

Verizon's move creates an empty space in the plaza, which Borda said has no potential tenants at this point. The fourth and final space in the new building also has no potential tenants.

"We don't even have a letter of intent yet for that fourth tenant," she said, adding it might be several months until the final tenant is finalized.
