Turner Construction Company was honored with a Building Excellence & Craftsmanship Award for its work on the Shaker Heights Public Library’s renovation project. The award was presented on August 11, 2022, at a ceremony hosted by the Construction Employers Association in conjunction with the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council and other associations.

The awards celebration recognizes excellent work performed by construction tradesmen and tradeswomen as well as the contractors who employ them. It is not only a way for the industry to invest in itself but an opportunity to thank tradesmen and tradeswomen for their hard work and to promote the completed projects.

Turner Construction Project Executive Jack Kellogg cited his team for its great work saying, “I am proud of our craftspeople who bring their technical knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to the delivery of our construction services.”

Upon learning of the award, Shaker Library Director Amy Switzer said, “Not only is the craftsmanship exceptional, but also the teamwork on this ambitious project was excellent. The result is an open, airy, and inviting place for the community to gather.” The challenge for workers was that the library remained open during much of the renovation. “Workers were helpful and understood the library’s mission throughout the project and even joined in a YouTube children’s story time about construction,” said Switzer.

Turner’s work on Shaker Library’s renovation project was reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges and competed against many significant projects in the area.

The awards celebrate not only the skilled work, but the dedication and challenges workers had to overcome on various projects. The Craftsmanship Awards have a long history in Cleveland. Following a 20-year hiatus, the event returned in 2019 and has been held as an annual event, either in-person or virtual, since then.
