How Solon Handles Snow: Parking Bans, Plowing Streets
Find out where your street ranks on the city's list of priorities during a snowstorm.

SOLON, OH — Ahead of the first major snowstorm of the season, here's how Solon clears roadways and implements parking bans.
First, if more than 2 inches of snow accumulates, a citywide snow emergency parking ban is implemented. Police can issue tickets or have vehicles towed off city streets to allow plows to clear snow.
The city divides its streets into three priority groups: state and secondary routes, industrial and residential streets with hills, and residential streets.

- Industrial Roads include streets such as Carter Street, Station Street and Enterprise Parkway.
- Residential streets with hills include Elm Hill, Ledge Hill Drive and White Oak Drive.
Residential streets:
- Any street that isn't included in the first two priorities
Drivers should stay 50 feet away from a plow truck, to give it space to operate.
Residents should also refrain from pushing snow into the street when clearing driveways. Snow plow drivers will likely push the snow back onto the driveway apron, so residents should place their snow carefully.
"Please, watch your children! We all know how fun new snow can be to play in and our drivers are always looking out for children playing but sometimes they are not visible behind snow piles or while playing in the cul-de-sacs," the city said on its website.
