Shakespeare Comes To Solon In July

SOLON, OH — Shakespeare is coming to Solon this summer.

Shakespeare in the Valley will perform "As You Like It" over two weekends in July in Solon Community Park. All four shows will be free and open to the public.

“Solon is excited to partner with Chagrin Arts to bring Shakespeare in the Valley to Solon Community Park in July,” says Don Holub, Solon’s Director of Recreation. “The city, through its many activities, encourages residents to enjoy the outdoors. What better way than with a familiar theater classic in a new setting!”

Performances will be held July 13-14 and July 20-21. The Saturday shows will start at 6:30 p.m. and the Sunday shows will begin at 5 p.m. Food trucks and other dining options will on-site, as will beer and wine vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic basket, lawn chairs or other amenities.

“This will be my first full season of performances and lectures as Executive Director with Chagrin Arts. Adding Shakespeare in Solon to the mix of offerings is tremendously exciting. Chagrin Falls is and has been the home of Chagrin Arts for 12 years," said Karen Prasser, executive director of Chagrin Arts. "However, it has been a focus for some time to broaden its footprint in Northeast Ohio and this opportunity begins that journey!”

"As You Like It" is one of Shakespeare's comedies, and features a woman disguising herself and convincing her love to woo her as another person.
