Solon Fire Warns Residents Strong Winds Could Knock Out Power
The department asked residents to charge the batteries of any electronics they use in an emergency.

SOLON, OH - As many of you likely found out during your morning commute, the weather throughout much of Northeast Ohio this morning is pretty nasty. Only one to two inches of snow are expected throughout the day for the Cleveland area, but wind gusts are expected to hit between 15 and 25 miles per hour throughout the day.
On top of the wind gusts, this morning started with a slick ice/rain combination that fell across much of the region. Slippery, treacherous conditions greeted many of us this morning.
With conditions ripe for out-of-control cars and downed power lines, the Solon Fire Department took to Facebook to remind residents of what they should do in the event of a power outage. First, make sure that any electronics you rely on are charged and ready to go. That could mean backup lights, etc.

If you use candles to light your house during outages, the fire department urges you to be cognizant of where you keep the candles. Fires often start due to poor placement. Avoid curtains, wood bookshelves, or anything else that might catch aflame.
