Solon Police Planning Sobriety Checkpoint in June

The police department announced the checkpoint in the next few weeks.

The Solon Police Department is warning drivers of a sobriety checkpoint in the city sometime in the next few weeks.

The checkpoint will be in conjunction with the Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force, according to the police department.

It is designed to detect impaired drivers before they can hurt themselves or someone else and to educate the public about the dangers of drunken driving.

Solon police want to remind drivers to make smart choices if they plan on drinking including:

• Choosing a designated driver
• Staying at home or a hotel
• Calling a friend or family member
