Solon's Future Problem Solvers Wins Big at International Tournament

The teams placed in six events.

Solon's Future Problem Solving teams finished strong at the International Tournament over the weekend at Indiana University bringing home six trophies, including three for first place, two for second place and one for fifth place, according to the school district.

In the senior division, Solon’s team of Rohan Achar, Bethany Davis, Adam Feldenkris, Andi Peng, Chanukya Malla and Sarah Rahman captured first place for presentation of an action plan.

Solon High School students Katie Shen and Kevin Sun took first and second place, respectively, in the senior division and Timothy Yi won first place in the junior division of the multi-affiliate global issues problem solving competition.

The group of Yumi Gambrill, Kody Keckler, Thomas Yi and Stephanie Zhu earned the second place trophy in the senior division of the global issues problem solving team competition.

Orchard team members Lea Kim, Kyle Maiorana, Alison Xin, Adam Zhang, Timothy Yi, Julia Fan and Gina Kong won fifth place honors in the junior division for presentation of an action plan.

The Future Problem Solving International Competition included 58 junior teams, 68 middle division teams and 61 senior teams from more than 40 states and 13 countries, including Australia, United Kingdom, Singapore, Turkey, Portugal and Hong Kong.
