Who Will Solon High Play In The High School Football Playoffs?
The 4-6 Comets made the postseason in one of Ohio's most vaunted regions. Who will they take on first this postseason?
SOLON, OH — After a 4-6, the Solon High Comets have punched their ticket for the postseason.
Sixteen teams in each region make the playoffs, under the Ohio High School Athletics Association (OHSAA) rules. The Comets finished the season ranked No. 13 in their region.
On Friday, the Comets will head to No. 4 Canton McKinley's home turf for the first round of the football playoffs. Canton McKinley finished the year with a record of 6-4.

All Division I, Division II, and Division III first-round playoff games will be played on Friday night. Lower divisions will play Saturday. Kick-off time for the Friday contest is 7 p.m.

- No. 16 Lorain at No. 1 St. Edward High
- No. 15 Shaker Heights at No. 2 Medina
- No. 14 Canton Glen Oak at No. 3 Stow-Munroe Falls
- No. 13 Solon at No. 4 Canton McKinley
- No. 12 Strongsville at No. 5 Massillon Jackson
- No. 11 Mentor at No. 6 St. Ignatius
- No. 10 Elyria at No. 7 Cleveland Heights
- No. 9 Berea-Midpark at No. 8 Brunswick
Historical perspective: Solon High has made 20 appearances in the OHSAA football playoffs. The most recent was last year. The team has a 23-24 record all-time in the postseason. The most successful postseason in Solon High history was in 2000, when the team was the state runner-up.
