Widespread Power Outages In Solon: 2,500 Residents In Dark

Damaging thunderstorms swept through Northeast Ohio on Tuesday morning.

SOLON, OH — Widespread power outages hit Solon on Tuesday morning.

More than 2,500 FirstEnergy customers in Solon were without power as of 9:45 a.m., according to the company's power outages map. The majority of outages should be remedied by noon, FirstEnergy estimated.

It's not yet clear what caused the power outages on Tuesday morning.

Extreme heat and powerful thunderstorms swept through Northeast Ohio on Tuesday. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall and possible flooding are all possible with the storms, the National Weather Service warned.

"Heavy rainfall with these thunderstorms may also lead to localized flooding," the National Weather Service said.

Additional thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening. Extreme heat and more rainfall could develop throughout the work week before a cool front moves in over the weekend.
