Crusoe data center to come to Springfield, expected to create 20 jobs (springfieldnewssun.com) — A new Crusoe Energy data center is coming to Springfield, adding about 20 jobs and joining two other planned AI-related facilities in the city’s Prime Ohio development area. Backed by a state-approved tax abatement, these projects signal growing investment, payroll, and technology infrastructure that could reshape Springfield’s local economy over the next several years. 
2. DeWine concerned about economic impact as Haitians in western Ohio lose TPS status (wvxu.org) — Haitian workers living in and around Springfield could lose their legal status in early February, and Gov. Mike DeWine is warning that local employers and the broader Springfield-area economy may be hit hard. He says many businesses rely on these residents for dependable labor and is in ongoing talks with Springfield Mayor Rob Rue and Clark County leaders about the potential impact.
3. 19-year-old man seriously injured after being hit by car; Troopers looking for driver involved (whio.com) — A 19-year-old man was seriously hurt after being hit by a car on East National Road near Center Street in Harmony Township and taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Troopers say the driver took off, and evidence points to a silver 2006–2010 Hyundai Sonata. Anyone who saw anything or recognizes that type of car is urged to call the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.
4. 2 Ohio restaurant employees accused of using AI to report fake robbery (k99online.com) — A Springfield-dateline report details how two employees at Rubin’s Deli in Elyria allegedly used AI tools, including ChatGPT, to help stage a fake robbery call that drew a massive police response. One worker was arrested on swatting and related charges, while another is wanted after leaving the scene during the investigation.
