• PLYMC honors legacy of former Director Sears (wfmj.com) — A longtime Youngstown library leader will be remembered at a January 17 memorial service at Stow Presbyterian Church on Fishcreek Road, giving Stow residents a chance to pay their respects. Carlton A. Sears, who guided the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County through major growth from 1997 to 2012, is being honored for more than 40 years in public libraries. 
• Former northeast Ohio Senate candidate pleads guilty to $4.5M wire fraud scheme (mahoningmatters.com) — A Stow resident and former Ohio Senate candidate has admitted to a years-long wire fraud scheme that federal investigators say stole about $4.5 million from his employer, a police group, and a fundraising platform. Prosecutors say Jonathan Leissler, 44, used his positions as CFO and FOP treasurer to divert funds for personal travel, property, and campaign expenses; he now faces up to 20 years in prison.
