5 Things at SouthPark Mall that Made the Police Reports

Strongsville officers are routinely called to the shopping center for thefts — and some other quirkier things

1. A woman walked out of Dillard's Aug. 12 with an armload of clothes. Police stopped her car in the parking lot and arrested her.

2. A man spent five counterfeit $100 bills at Giant Eagle on Aug. 14.

3. A family was seen arguing in the SouthPark Mall parking lot about 11 a.m. Aug. 16, then left behind a 10-year-old boy, who was crying. They returned and yelled at the child, then the man went into the mall, but a woman and the boy stayed in the car.

A report said the woman was "pretty excitable right now and does not look as though she is going to calm down anytime soon." The man acknowledged they are having a lot of problems.

They were asked to leave and return to do their shopping another time soon.

4. A woman called for help Aug. 12 when she couldn't find her car in the parking lot. A mall security officer drove the woman around the lot to search, but a Strongsville officer located the vehicle near Dillard's.

5. A fire alarm went off about 9:20 p.m. Aug. 14. Officials discovered a steam cleaning machine had set off the smoke detector.
