Here are the top three stories in Strongsville today:

  1. The Strongsville Education Foundation is hosting its 7th Annual Jockeys and Juleps fundraiser Saturday, May 6 at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center. The event will include a screening of Kentucky Derby's 149th running, followed by a Night at the Races fundraiser that benefits the foundation. Tickets, tables, horses, and a 50/50 raffle are all available for purchase by scanning the QR code at the link. (Strongsville Education Foundation via Facebook)
  2. Lorain, Cuyahoga, Erie, and Huron county law enforcement agencies were awarded state funds for crime prevention on Mar. 10. The funds, awarded by The Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program, will go toward the prevention and investigation of violent crimes for Northeast Ohio communities. The program is funded through both the state operating budget and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. According to the press release, Cuyahoga's Westlake Police Department will receive $119,250 in an effort to reduce gun-related crimes. (The Morning Journal)
  3. Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams is being sued by a California woman over deceptive pricing. Brandi Bagley of Newport Beach accused the company of using the 4 percent surcharge to make it appear that prices remain low, while secretly charging people more to make up for their supply chain issues. The lawsuit was transferred Thursday to federal court in Cleveland and seeks class-action status. (Cleveland.com)
