Strongville 'Movie Tax' Could Cost You This Summer
Strongsville might add a 3 percent tax to movie and entertainment tickets.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - A proposed tax on admission to movies and other entertainment events in Strongsville could raise up to $125,000 in annual revenue, Cleveland.com reported.
The potential new 3-percent admission tax was discussed at a city council meeting on Monday, Cleveland.com reported.
Customers of entertainment venues such as the Cinemark Movie Theater would pay the tax, Cleveland.com reported. The tax could also be added onto admission for events at the OBN Arena, MAQ Center and Holiday Inn.

The funds would primarily go towards monitoring Cinemark and the SouthPark Mall, Cleveland.com reported.
"If you look at what retail does and the cost of maintaining retail with public safety – police, fire and everything that goes with it – that's huge," Mayor Thomas Perciak told the council, according to Cleveland.com.

If council passes the ordinance it will go into effect on July 1, according to Cleveland.com.
