Championship Winning Coach Resigns Strongsville Soccer Program

Todd Church coached the Lady Mustangs to a state championship in 2020. He resigned on Monday.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — One of the winningest head coaches in Ohio girls soccer history resigned from Strongsville High School on Monday.

Todd Church was the team's head coach since 2014. His tenure included multiple conference championships and one state championship.

“After seventeen seasons with Strongsville, I have decided that the time was right for me to step away from the Lady Mustangs Soccer program. I, along with my family, am so grateful for all of the experiences and opportunities Strongsville Girls Soccer has provided us," Church said.

During Church's tenure, the Lady Mustangs won the Greater Cleveland Conference championship for seven straight seasons and have consistently made deep runs in the OHSAA postseason tournament, including a state championship victory in 2020. The 2020 team was also ranked No. 1 in the nation by topdrawersoccer.com.

Prior to this season, Church ranked 36th in all-time wins for Ohio girls high school soccer.

Church was an assistant coach with the program from 2005 through 2013.

"I would like to thank my staff, that I consider extended family, for all that they have given - Jon Felton, J.R. Muth, Nick Heyniger, Allison Harbart, and Fred East. I look forward to watching the continued successes of the team and will forever be a fan of the Strongsville Soccer Lady Mustangs,”Church added.
