Cleveland's 5 Best Sandwich Spots

Heading into the city this week? Try one of these awesome sandwiches.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - Cleveland wouldn't be the same without its iconic meat sandwiches but locals also love a good banh mi or falafel. Here is a list of some of the best spots to grab a sandwich in Cleveland, according to Yelp.

Slyman’s Restaurant- 3106 St. Clair Ave.

Maybe Slyman's is the obvious choice for the top of the Yelp list, but their gigantic corned beef reuben can't be beat. The famous sandwich costs $15.50 and is served on rye bread with swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Try changing it up by ordering the roast beef or pastrami.

Yelp reviewer Dan K. wrote: "By far the greatest place to get a corn beef sandwich in all of Ohio. Their sandwiches are on some next level! And I mean some truly next level! You haven't lived till you've tried one of these! Nothing and I mean NOTHING can even come close! The service is always great, the waitresses are always very personable, which I like. You can really sit down and relax, and just take in the atmosphere of the place. Their food is great, whether you are getting their breakfast or their legendary corn beef sandwich, you won't be disappointed. This little joint truly encompasses the spirit of Cleveland. This place is a true Cleveland landmark."

Superior Pho- 3030 Superior Ave E.

Don't underestimate the power of a great Vietnamese banh mi sandwich. You can also grab a bowl of comforting Pho to go along with it. The sandwich is described on the menu as a "Vietnamese sandwich on a crispy French roll with homemade paté, roasted pork, cucumber, fresh herbs and mayonnaise sauce" and costs $4.95.

Andrew W. wrote: "Perfection. Bahn Mi's are awesome and their are a few 'off the menu.' Ask about them. Get the bubble-tea, Iced-Coffee, a bahn mi and some Pho."

Mister Brisket- 2156 S Taylor Road

Back to the meat. Mister Brisket comes in a close second to Slyman's, according to Yelp reviewers. Sandwiches are $1 off on Tuesdays and all basic sandwiches on the menu are the same price: $7.95 for a "scooby"; $10.95 for a large; and $14.96 for an extra large. All reubens are $11.95 or if you're feeling adventurous try "The Duke" for $15.95: "over one pound of corned beef, turkey, salami and brisket with swiss."

Jeev D. wrote: "This tiny hole in the wall is a hidden [gem]. It's easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. I've been going here for years. It's a family owned carryout deli /butcher shop. It has some of the best corned beef and pastrami in the city. The owner may seem surly but is a very friendly guy, actually everyone there is friendly."

Nate’s Deli & Restaurant- 1923 W 25th St.

This Mediterranean deli offers the standard corned beef and pastrami sandwiches but give the shish kebob, shish tawook or falafel sandwich a try. Sandwiches range in price between $3.50 and $7, or $9 for a "king" deli sandwich.

Rami M. wrote: "I always get the shish tawook sandwich- perfectly marinated, tender cubes of chicken, with garlic sauce, wrapped in warm pita bread- yum! And their hummus, in my opinion/experience, is the best I've had anywhere in the world (including Lebanon)!"

Cafe Bon Appetit- 1900 Euclid Ave.

Once again you're welcome to grab a corned beef sandwich here, but the real winner seems to be the tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwich (several Yelpers said it was their favorite). They also have crepes!

Joyce H. wrote: "I'm always looking for a good hot sandwich, and this place is my favorite grab and go lunch/dinner place around Cleveland State. My favorite by far is the tomato, basil, mozzarella sandwich. Pretty good portion for $6.99! The other options are healthy and fresh."
