- A group of Cuyahoga County Republicans endorsed Matt Dolan for U.S. Senate, citing his commitment to conservative principles and track record of leadership. Dolan's work as a prosecutor, assistant Ohio attorney general, and state senator has demonstrated his dedication to keeping communities safe and finding solutions to challenges. - A bill known as the "backpack bill" that would expand Ohio's private school vouchers and allow educational funding to go with the student rather than the district has been met with hours of testimony in a state Senate committee. The bill's supporters argue that school funding should be on a child-by-child basis to avoid public schools that may not meet their performance standards, social justice concerns, or are sexualizing students, with the bill creating "healthy competition" for schools and boosting student performance and teacher job satisfaction. Critics argue that the bill would take money away from public schools, leading to budget cuts, teacher layoffs, and reduced educational opportunities. (Cleveland Scene)
