Guy Gets Away from Cab, But Can't Escape Tracking Dog: Police Blotter

A cab driver asked police for help after dropping off a fare on Gold Rush Drive who walked away without paying about 3 a.m. April 30.
Police checked the house, and found the man never went inside -- just walked past.

A police dog was called in, who successfully tracked the man to a house on Golden Star Drive.Â
The guy's father paid the cabbie, who didn't seek charges.

Pretend Shooter
A concerned witness asked police to cheeck out a man who was pointing his hand like a gun and pretending to shoot at cars as he walked on Royalton Road about 6:50 p.m. May 2.
Officers couldn't find the man, who was wearing a droopy hat, shorts, a tank top and headphones.
Real Shooter
Several people reported gunshots about 11:45 p.m. April 30.
The first caller heard shots behind a Whitney Road building; the second said they were comming from behind Kings Inn. The third call came in from Strongsville Boulevard.
Police checked the area, but couldn't find where the shots came from.
IRS Scam
A Walnut Creek Drive family got a number of calls April 29 from someone claiming to be with the IRS, demanding the money they owed for taxes.
The residents reported the scam to the Ohio Attorney General's office.
Throwing Stones
The Ohio Highway Patrol asked Strongsville police to check overpasses on Pearl Road and Big Creek Parkway after a number of motorists reported three kids throwing rocks onto the turnpike about 5:30 p.m. April 29.
The Patrol later found the kids in Olmsted Falls.Â
Late Music
A resident reported someone playing the drums loudly just after midnight April 29 in the Deer Path Drive area.
The area was quiet when police checked.
Whoa, Nellie
A horse took a joy run along Albion Road about 2:30 p.m. May 1, according to a report.
The animal warden was called and the horse was returned to his barn.
