Man Beats Dog; and Why is Driver Going So Slow?: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

 

A passerby reported a man driving an Audi very slowly on I-71 about 10:30 p.m.

The driver got off and pulled into the Marathon station, where police questioned him.

A report said the man admitted to driving slowly on the highway. He was low on gas and thought he would run out quicker if he drove fast.

Animal Abuse Complaint

A witness saw a Maple Brook Trail man beating a small dog March 24, a report said.

When he confronted him, the dog owner said he could hit the dog all he wants.

Police spoke with the owner, who admitted to hitting the 6-month-old lab. 

A report said the dog seemed okay, but police said they would forward the call to the animal warden for follow-up.

Break-in Suspects

Lorain County Sheriff's deputies called Strongsville police to the Snell-Marks roads area about 5 a.m. March 22 after discovering car break-ins in their community -- and tracks in the snow leading into Strongsville.

Police here found tracks leading to cars on Coopers Run, and checked the entire area, including Foxgrove, Yarrow, Meadowood and other sections of Westwood Farms.

No cars in Strongsville were found to be entered, although several break-ins were reported in Lorain County.

Suspicious Person

A woman walking her dog on Westminster Drive asked police to look for a man driving a black vehicle who seemed overly interested in her and her pup.

A report said the man followed her in the vehicle about 1 p.m. March 23, asking a number of questions.

Condiment Trouble

A Benbow Road resident reported that boys in a car threw condiments at her house about 4 p.m. March 22.

The incident actually caused damage because the kids threw a whole bottle of something at the garage, cracking the siding.

A neighbor also saw the three boys and the car.
