Meet Strongsville's Teacher Of The Year

A young educator has been named the latest recipient of the Sister Rita Mackert Award.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Brianne Tabar is the latest recipient of the Sister Rita Mackert Teacher of the Year Award.

“I am so honored to have been chosen for the Sister Rita Mackert Teacher of the Year Award. This past year I was lucky enough to have 2nd grade students at Chapman and in our virtual SOLO 2.0 program. The on-going support that my students and their families gave me was remarkable. I am so appreciative of their patience and flexibility as we navigated each challenge this year presented," Tabar said.

Tabar is a second grade teacher at Chapman Elementary School. She recently joined the Strongsville Schools and just completed her first year in the district. She has only been teaching for four year.

However, in her brief time in the field, she has already made a significant impact, the Strongsville Schools said in a statement.

In her nomination form for the Sister Rackert Award, Tabar was described as an ambitious and committed educator: “I have never seen a teacher so dedicated and committed to the betterment of each and every student in her classroom and the school. Every day Ms. Tabar pushes herself to do “bigger and better” in order to help her students learn. Ms. Tabar can always be counted on to “push the envelope” with her students, but she also shares all her ideas with her teammates and the entire staff."

"Despite any roadblock, every student showed up with a growth mindset and smile on their face. I absolutely love being a teacher, and they are the reason why. I am so proud of all we accomplished this year and the determination and effort all of my students put forth every day. Thank you to Mrs. Pinney, our building principal, my colleagues, and family. I am so thankful for all that you did to support me this year. I am so grateful to be a part of our District, and look forward to many more years of making a difference in our students' lives,” Tabar added.
