Protesters Reported, But Not Breaking the Law

Groups of protesters were reported March 12, 13 and 14 in front of School Board members' homes, but in each case, police found no wrongdoing.

Neighbors on Stoughton Drive, Westminster Drive and Deer Path Drive complained about noisy crowds, cars parked illegally and people blocking driveways and walking on the grass.

But police found all the protesters were being quiet and were parked legally. They were also staying on the sidewalk, a report said.

Supporters of the teachers' strike are staging nightly vigils outside school board members' homes.

Some Friend

A Pearl Road woman complained that a friend stayed over March 10 and took $30 and a $200 hair straightener with her when she left.

Police said they would contact the friend.

A Helping Hand

Police went to check on an elderly Priem Road woman who called March 11 to ask that something be done about the sound in her house.

The woman couldn't provide her address or last name, but dispatchers tracked her down and an officer went to the house.

The problem? Her house is too quiet, a report said. The officer visited with the woman and also spoke with her son.

A neighbor also came over when he saw the police car and said he checks on the 88-year-old several times a day.
