Mosquito Spraying is Hit-Skip in Strongsville

Crews flush out the tiny pests before big events, but not all the time

The city sprays for mosquitos occasionally in Strongsville, but only before major gatherings.

"We don't do any general spraying," Service Director Joe Walker said. "We usually mostly do it before events."

If mosquitos are making pests of themselves around July 4, the Service Department will treat the soccer fields where people sit to watch the fireworks show, he said.

Likewise, the covered bridge area is treated shortly before the annual Breakfast on the Bridge.

But Walker said county crews that used to "go down the road and spray" stopped that practice several years ago.
