The North Eastern Ohio Education Association put out a memo to teachers in nearby districts, seeking volunteers to hold candlelight vigils at the Strongsville school board's homes.

The memo said the vigils would help pressure the board back to the negotiating table.

It noted that teachers elsewhere weren't able to join the daily picket lines in front of schools because they were working, but said the teachers could show support for the Strongsville Educaton Association by volunteers for the evening vigils.

It asks volunteers to meet at 4:30 p.m. at the SEA's strike office on Dow Circle for vigils that will run till 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until the strike ends.

Groups of teachers gathered in front of all five board members' homes Feb. 25, while contract talks were still going on.

The strike in Strongsville is in its second week.
