Scary Things in the Night; 2 Scams Reported: Police Blotter
The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Pearl Road woman told police someone was outside her bedroom window at 1 a.m. Sept. 3 saying, "I'm going to get you."
Her lights were on, so she couldn't see anything outside.
Police checked the area, but couldn't find anyone.
Also ScaryÂ
Some Barton Drive resident heard their garage door open unexpectedly at 2 a.m. Sept. 3, then close again.
When police arrived, the door had opened and closed a few more times.Â
Officers suspected a faulty garage door opener rather than an intruder.
FBI Calling?
A Brandywine Drive resident got a phone message from a man claiming to be from the FBI, demanding he call a long-distance number.
A family member researched the number and found it was related to a scam in Jamaica.
An officer called the number and confirmed that.
Craig's List Scam
A Ruth Drive resident got a $1,900 check from someone after talking to someone about dog sitting through an ad on Craig's List.
Police told him not to cash it.
In scams like that one, people send larger-than-necessary checks, then ask the receiver to cash it and send back the overage.
Once the victim sends back money, he learns the check was fraudulent and he's out the amount he returned.
Theft at Rec Center
Money was removed from a wallet at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center between 8:50 and 9:10 p.m. Sept. 4.
Suspicious Stranger
An Acacia Drive woman got nervous after seeing a man walk around the neighborhood for a half hour Sept. 5.
The man crossed the street to approach her son about 6:30 p.m., but several nearby teenagers walked over, too.
The man then reversed direction and walked away.
He was gone when police arrived.
Property Damage
Someone took the umbrella out of an outdoor table on Montclare Boulevard the night of Sept. 2, then smashed the glass tabletop, a report said.
