- Investigators of the Feb. 20 explosion over at the I. Schumann & Co. metal foundry in Bedford said they do not believe the cause to be criminal, though the investigation is ongoing. - The Cuyahoga County plastic bag ban that has been in place since 2022 may start gaining some traction at your favorite retailers in light of a new grant program. Eligible retailers may receive up to $5,000 to fade out plastic bags at checkouts. "It still is in the ordinance; however, the state has set the situation such where we cannot do enforcement, which is why we are pivoting and are doing an education campaign and focusing on the incentives here," program officer Katharyne Starinsky said. The county has given out 48,500 reusable bags and hopes the community continues to phase out its use of plastic bags. (News 5 Cleveland)
