Strongsville Student Wins National Merit Scholarships

The latest round of National Merit Scholarship winners includes one student who calls Strongsville home.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — One Strongsville student is among the latest batch of National Merit Scholarship recipients.

Ryan Joseph Anthony, who attends St. Ignatius High School, received a scholarship Tuesday to attend Case Western Reserve University. He intends to study chemistry.

The latest round of scholarship recipients received between $500 and $2,000 annually, for four years, through their chosen college or institution. Students were selected from a pool of National Merit Scholarship finalists.

More than 1.5 million students applied for the highly competitive scholarship when they took the PSAT/SAT and the program says that approximately 7,500 students will win scholarships in 2021. Semifinalist had to write essays detailing their extracurricular activities, awards, and leadership positions to become finalists.
