Suspicious Man Says He Just Wants Smokes

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

 

Police were asked to check out a suspicious man hanging around the back door of Brew Kettle on Pearl Road a little after midnight Feb. 14.

They found the man, who said he was looking in the ashtrays on the patio for cigarette ends.

Police told him not to linger behind the business.

Employees at Home Depot reported a man who shoplifted a $99 battery about noon Feb. 12.

When security officers approached, the man ran off. During the foot chase, the batter fell out of the suspect's coat.

A couple hours later, a shopper at the store reported someone stole tools from his work van while he was in the store.

Power Lines Down

Prospect Road was closed between Boston and Drake starting at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 after a tree fell onto some power lines.

Two motorists were cited for driving on a closed road. One, a pizza delivery driver, was allowed to leave to deliver her pizza, then returned to get her citation, a report said.
