Who Will Strongsville High Play In The Football Playoffs?

STRONGSVILLE, OH — After a finishing the year at .500, the Strongsville High Mustangs have punched their ticket for the postseason.

Sixteen teams in each region make the playoffs, under the Ohio High School Athletics Association (OHSAA) rules. The Tigers finished the season ranked No. 12 in their region.

On Friday, the Mustangs will hit the road and head to Massillon Jackson's home turf for the first round of the football playoffs. Massillon Jackson finished the year with a record of 8-2.

All Division I, Division II, and Division III first-round playoff games will be played on Friday night. Lower divisions will play Saturday. Kick-off time for the Friday contest is 7 p.m.

• No. 12 Strongsville at No. 5 Massillon Jackson
• No. 11 Mentor at No. 6 St. Ignatius
• No. 10 Elyria at No. 7 Cleveland Heights
• No. 9 Berea-Midpark at No. 8 Brunswick

Historical perspective: Strongsville High has made 14 appearances in the OHSAA football playoffs. The most recent was last year. The team has a 5-14 record all-time in the postseason.
