Here are the top three stories in Strongsville today:
- The Epilepsy Association invites the community to join them for the 18th Annual Winter Walk for Epilepsy on Jan. 28, 2023, at SouthPark Mall in Strongsville. The event, which runs from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., is a two-mile indoor walk that aims to raise awareness and funds for the organization while providing a fun and family-friendly experience. Participants will enjoy a variety of activities such as music, entertainment, and a prize raffle, all while supporting a cause that affects so many individuals and families in the community. (Strongsville Patch)
- The Strongsville Senior Center has partnered with Strongsville Middle School for "TechKNOWledgy with Teens," a new monthly program where a group of sixth-graders helps seniors navigate the world of cell phones and tablets. The young tech wizards helped them with various tasks, such as adding contacts to their phones, taking screenshots, and even ordering a birthday gift for a loved one on their mobile device. This program is set to be held on a monthly basis and those interested can register by calling the Senior Center at 440-580-3275 for the next session. (City of Strongsville Government via Facebook)
- In the early hours of Sunday morning, two separate shooting incidents occurred at bars in nearby Lakewood. The first incident occurred at Corky's Place at 12:50 a.m., where a man was shot in the right thigh and another individual was punched in the face by the same suspect. The perpetrator fled the scene before the arrival of the police. The second incident took place at East End Pub at 2:46 a.m., where police heard a gunshot as they were responding to a report of a fight, and found two individuals injured, one struck by a vehicle and the other with knife wounds. At this time, the police do not believe the two shootings are connected and are currently investigating the incidents to identify those involved and the motives behind them. (WKYC)
